I am David John Houlden. I was born in 1959 near Boston, Lincolnshire in the UK, the first child of John William (Jack) Houlden and Janet Houlden (nee Bream). I had a younger brother Colin who passed away in 2015. We lived in the village of Bicker near Boston where I still have some relatives. In 1969 the family moved to the Peterborough area which is where I have stayed. After living in Holme and Sawtry I now live in the village of Yaxley.
In 1978 I joined Perkins Engines in Peterborough as a Trainee Computer Programmer. Over the years I progressed through various IT jobs to become a Senior Database Administrator supporting the company's ERP system and Progress and DB2 databases.
In March 2009 I decided to leave Perkins and I have now retired and am enjoying all of my free time.
I have a number of hobbies and interests including home computing and the Internet, gardening, military aviation, astronomy, watching television and family history. Since retiring I have started doing some volunteer driving for a local charity, Huntingdonshire Society For The Blind.
